“Training Run” launches on November 3

Time Travel Holidays: A Holiday Anthology, which includes my short story “Training Run,” is set to go live on November 3, wherever ebooks are sold. That said, the anthology is also included as a stretch reward in WMG Publishing‘s Kickstarter for The Holiday Spectacular.

This is how it works: Every day from November 23 to January 1, backers will receive one holiday-themed short story… a kind of fictional Advent calendar. Those who back it for a bit more will receive their choice of a number of excellent anthologies, including Time Travel Holidays. Check out the Kickstarter here.

You have until November 2 to take advantage of this great deal!.

KICKSTARTER, ANYONE?

Matt Buchman, who writes very popular action adventure thrillers, is launching Thrill Ride the Magazine, via Kickstarter from Feb. 7 to 21.

As the title indicates, the magazine will focus on action adventure. He’s already filled the first four issues, a year’s worth, with short stories by excellent writers. My own story, “Sins of the Past,” will appear in the Betrayal issue.

If the Kickstarter funds.

If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter, it’s a site where creative people (like writers) can set up campaigns to share their visions. Then interested communities come together to fund these projects. There are all kinds of perks that come with funding a Kickstarter campaign—for instance, free short stories (I donated “Cold Wave,” my award-winning short story) and novels to sweeten the pot. But only if the Kickstarter funds.

So, visit https://www.mlbuchman.com/btrm/ before February 21 to get enough high adrenaline stories to last you a whole year!

Fiction River: A subscription drive for a new era

It’s a Brave New World out there. In the old days, publishers would pepper us with requests to subscribe to their magazines, including email reminders, return address cards, etc.

WMG Publishing, the folks who publish the Fiction River Anthology Series among other wonderful books, have decided on another route for their subscription drive. Since they went with a Kickstarter campaign to fund the debut of the series, they’re going back to Kickstarter for their subscription drive. The incentives they’re offering are enticing–everything from a free e-copy of one of the first ten volumes to the right to choose the theme of an upcoming anthology and the opportunity to co-edit it with Dean Wesley Smith who, with Kristine Kathryn Rusch, is the series editor. In between those extremes is a wonderful array of workshops, subscriptions and books by almost all of the contributors to Fiction River anthologies.

As for the connection to moi, two of my print novels are being offered as incentives: Kirwan’s Son and Backli’s Ford, as well as one of my e-books.
