The Forsaken Man is now live!

The Forsaken Man is now available everywhere ebooks are sold, with the print edition to follow soon. I’m very pleased with this latest addition to the Mendenhall Mystery series and I hope readers will be, too.

It’s been a long, hard winter and Mendenhall Chief of Police Kate Williams longs for a quiet spring. With her deputy chief still recovering from an attempt on his life, the detachment is short-handed. Then someone steals a tank of valuable bull semen from a local vet and Kate’s constables scramble to investigate, leaving her to deal with a series of thefts and escalating vandalism at a construction site. And then there’s the whole Bert thing…

Home Run — a short Mendenhall Mystery

“Home Run,” my latest short story in the Mendenhall Mystery universe, is now available everywhere ebooks are sold. It was originally published by Flame Tree Publishing in November 2016 in their Crime & Mystery Short Stories (Gothic Fantasy) anthology.

At ten years old—almost eleven—Cooper knows more about surviving than most adults. He and his mom have spent the past three years on the run from the monster. Every time they settle down somewhere new, the monster finds them and they have to run again. But Cooper likes their latest home in Mendenhall and he doesn’t want to leave. Even when the monster finds them again.

So this time, he’s going to stop the monster.

“Home Run” is short story set in the world of the Mendenhall Mystery series.

Latest Mendenhall Mystery available for pre-order

I’m very pleased to announce that The Forsaken Man, the fifth Mendenhall Mystery, is now available for pre-order:

It’s been a long, hard winter and Mendenhall Chief of Police Kate Williams longs for a quiet Spring. With her deputy chief still recovering from an attempt on his life, the detachment is short-handed. Then someone steals a tank of valuable bull semen from a local vet and Kate’s constables scramble to investigate, leaving her to deal with a series of thefts and escalating vandalism at a construction site. And then there’s the whole Bert thing…

I had fun writing this one. It was a pleasure to revisit Mendenhall and spend time with Kate, Trepalli, McKell and the other constables. And I couldn’t wait to figure out what Kate was going to do about Bert.

If you’re curious, you can pre-order The Forsaken Man on Amazon or Kobo. The book will be released on November 15.

Troll Country and Midwinter Run

I’ve been on a roll lately and have two new short stories to show for it. Well, okay, one of them is a long short story:

TROLL COUNTRY is the long one–really, it’s a novelette. Here’s the blurb:

What can you do when a fairy tale nightmare comes true?

Annie knows the troll is coming back for her and her sisters—and their children. But when she tries to convince her sisters that the danger they faced as children is returning, they can’t—or won’t—believe her. She is on her own.

As always, my stories are available everywhere ebooks are sold, including the following stores:

And the second one is MIDWINTER RUN:

In the deep cold of a midwinter night, Annalise races through a frozen wilderness to bring her injured father to help. But when she stumbles across a pixie on the frozen river, she will have to face a band of angry Fey who blame her for the pixie’s death. If she leaves, she risks the wrath of the Fey—but if she stays to explain, she risks her father’s life.

Aliens Among Us…

Woot! My A’lle Chronicles novel, Backli’s Ford, is part of StoryBundle’s latest bundle: Aliens Among Us.

Here’s what the curators, Allyson Longueira and Dean Wesley Smith, had to say about the bundle:

“Science fiction readers all know that the main theme of all science fiction is the alien among us. Early on, when science fiction was a genre only read by science geeks and kids who built their own telescopes, readers felt that they were the aliens in the larger real world.

School was an alien place, other humans felt alien. Science fiction felt safe.

And science fiction stories and novels helped explain so much of what they were feeling.”

The initial titles in the The Aliens Among Us (minimum $5 to purchase) are:

  • Fiction River: No Humans Allowed edited by John Helfers
  • Fade to Gold by Stefon Mears
  • Backli’s Ford by Marcelle Dube
  • Undermountain by Eric Kent Edstrom

If you pay more than the bonus price of just $15, you get all four of the regular titles, plus six more!

  • The End of the World by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
  • Starburst by Dean Wesley Smith
  • Scifi Motherlode by Robert Jeschonek
  • Rita Longknife – Enemy Unknown by Mike Shepherd
  • Assemblers of Infinity by Kevin J. Anderson and Doug Beason
  • Imposters by Blaze Ward

This bundle is available only for a limited time via storybundle.com/aliens. It allows easy reading on computers, smartphones, and tablets as well as Kindle and other ereaders via file transfer, email, and other methods. You get multiple DRM-free formats (.epub and .mobi) for all books.

In fact, all of the books and stories in this fantastic volume ask that age-old science fiction question in one way or another.

What would really happen if there were aliens among us? Grab this fantastic bundle and get a few answers from some of the top working science fiction writers.

Bundle buyers have a chance to donate a portion of their proceeds to AbleGamers.
